As an athlete or quarterback, shoulder health is often overlooked when training during the offseason or in season.

One of the most versatile supplements, creatine, can be one of your most valuable tools for athletic success. There is an abundance of evidence that shows creatine is a safe and effective ergogenic aid. Let me share with you some of the awesome things that creatine does and dispel some of the myths of what it does not do.

Fact: Health Food
There are several “inborn errors of metabolism” that have been identified in that all of these metabolic diseases are characterized by a lack of creatine and hosphorylcreatine in the brain, and by (severe) mental retardation. Creatine biosynthesis has been suggested to impact homocysteine concentration in the plasma, which has been identifi ed as an independent risk factor for heart disease. By decreasing homocysteine production, oral creatine supplementation may also lower the risk for developing coronary heart disease and cerebrovascular disease.

Fact: A Big Brain Booster
In one study, scientists showed that supplementation with creatine (8 g/day for five days) reduced mental fatigue when subjects repeatedly perform simple mathematical tasks. According to the study’s authors, “After taking the creatine supplement, task-evoked increase of cerebral oxygenated hemoglobin in the brains of subjects measured by near infrared spectroscopy was significantly reduced, which is compatible with increased oxygen utilization in the brain.”

Myth: Dehydrates You?
One of the pervasive myths surrounding the use of creatine is that it’ll make you lose water faster and dehydrate. Here’s what a study from San Diego University showed us:
Twenty college males supplemented with creatine or a placebo for 28 days. Subjects in the creatine group consumed four doses of creatine (5.25 g per dose) for fi ve days; for the remaining 23 days, they consumed two doses of creatine per day. The placebo group got equal dosages of a placebo. Subjects exercised on a bike for 60 minutes at 60 percent of their max oxygen uptake under hot conditions (99 degrees F, 25 percent relative humidity). They found that the rise in body temperature during cycling exercise was less in the creatine group. Fact: There is Tons of Safety Data Dr. Richard Kreider, a Professor at Baylor University and an advisory board member of the International Society of Sports Nutrition, completed a study in which he examined, over a 21-month period, 98 Division IA college football players who consumed in an open label manner, creatine or non-creatine containing upplements following training sessions. Subjects who ingested creatine were administered 15.75 g/day of creatine monohydrate for fi ve days and an average of 5 g/day thereafter in 5 to 10 g/day doses.
Fasting blood and 24-hour urine samples were collected. A comprehensive uantitative clinical chemistry panel was determined on serum and whole-blood samples and urine samples were quantitatively and qualitative analyzed. Kreider stated, “The long-term creatine supplementation (up to 21-months) does not appear to adversely effect markers of health status in athletes undergoing intense training in comparison to athletes who do not take creatine.”

In Summary, Creatine:
1. Enhances athletic performance in the strength-power sports.
2. Promotes gains in lean body mass.
3. May help neuromuscular function in those with various metabolic diseases.
4. May improve brain function.
5. Is safe when taken as directed.

Elkhart Memorial Charger Football Sophomore Quarterback, Blake Kramer, a five year QBA/NFA quarterback, played his first high school varsity game on Friday, August 19, 2011, against cross town rival Elkhart Central. Blake entered the game late in the second quarter, to give the senior QB a rest. The game was deadlocked at 7-7, with just 2:19 left in the half, the ball was placed on his own 10 yard line, after a punt by Elkhart Central. Blake tried a couple of long passes, but the balls were thrown incomplete. On 3rd and 10, Blake was under pressure, threw a ball complete, but short of the first down. There was a roughing the passer call on Central that gave Memorial an automatic 1st down. Blake threw a couple passes for completions and ran a few running plays to maneuver the ball down to the 24 yard line, with just 22 seconds to go. Blake hikes the ball with 17 seconds on the clock and threw a beautiful pass between two defenders for a two-handed grab by WRA/NFA Receiver, Urston Smith, for a touchdown, with just 7 seconds left on the clock, to take the lead for the first time, and shift the momentum to the Memorial Chargers, as they roll on for a 26-14 victory over Elkhart Central Blue Blazers. Blake and Urston’s pass was aired on every local station that night and was named “Highlight of the Night” by local television station, Fox 28. Blake and Urston are now invited to the College Football Hall of Fame, at the end of the year, as “Highlight of the Year” will be chosen. Blake’s pass is now part of the opening credits for the Friday night high school football scores and highlights. Not bad for a first high school varsity series. Congrats Blake!!! Check out the pass on You Tube @:

Everyday 1,000’s of High School Football Players receive a letter from a University. What does that mean? Does it mean they are all being recruited by those schools? No! Colleges will send out 1,000’s of form letters to players that have been entered into their database. 95% of them will never receive a scholarship offer. But, it is still a good thing to receive these letters. It means someone somewhere gave your information to that school.College recruiting is like a funnel.

FORM LETTERS from the Colleges.

HANDWRITTEN Letters from the Coaches.

PHONE CALLS from the Coaches.

Coaches visit you at School and at your House

Coaches bring you to their School on a OFFICIAL VISIT

You receive a Written SCHOLARSHIP OFFER!

The form letter just means they have received information on you. Handwritten letters mean they have an interest in you. THEY HAVE NOT OFFERED you yet, but have an interest and will evaluate you further. When a Coach starts calling you they feel you are a recruit for that school. They have seen on film you have the ability to play at that level. THIS DOES NOT MEAN THEY HAVE OFFERED YOU YET! When they visit you at school, they are making sure all their information is correct. They are trying to learn what kind of person you are. They are getting academic information on you and good recruiters will do spy work. They will talk to your teachers, counselors, coaches and maybe even other students. They want to know what kind of student and person you are. A scholarship is a huge investment by the college and they want to know what they are getting for their investment. They will visit your house to talk to you and your family. They are trying to build a strong relationship with you. A good recruiter should almost become a family friend to you and your family. They do this so that when it is time to offer you it is very hard for you to say no. Who wants to say no to a great family friend? Next if you get to the official visit stage, they are pretty sure they want to offer you a scholarship. They will be evaluating you on the visit. They may verbally offer you on the visit. If they do not, it means you have a few people higher on their list at your position but they still like you. Finally, when they offer you in writing a scholarship, you know you have reached your goal. How can you get help getting into this funnel and navigating these confusing waters of college recruiting? PROSPECT-FIT! They will get you to pass the eyeball test when the coach comes to see you. They will help you increase your performance on the field and they can help get your name into the funnel! CALL PROSPECT FIT TODAY! Tell Them Coach Siegal Sent you.

The young men that have been attending the OLA Camps and the Coaches attending OLA Certifications have been blown away! OLA Has former NFL Coaches, Coaches that have played in the BIG TEN and some of the Elite Line Coaches in America. As a Youth or High School Coach It is a no-brainier. If you want to have any success at all you better get every one of your linemen to a OLA Camp asap! See, you can have the best QB on earth but he can’t throw touchdowns laying on his back with a Defensive Player on top of him. Send your guy’s to OLA increase TD’s;decrease Sacks. “As a young player you should know that to be a great lineman you must work you trade everyday!” Irv Pankey -15 Yr NFL Linemen LA Rams. Well how can you get better at your trade? OLA

Blake Phillips, a rising freshman at Kentucky Day School has attended camps for several years – 14 camps to date. Two trips to camps in Orlando have been favorites. This past December he traveled to Denver to be a part of the ProspectFit Boot Camp. He had a great time at this challenging event and was inspired to work even harder. His dedication and hard work paid off this spring in a record-breaking season in the Louisville Middle School 7 on 7 league. Twenty-four teams participated. Blake threw for a record 48 touchdowns with only 2 interceptions. This impressive performance resulted in an undefeated season and the city championship. Even with his individual success Blake is quick to give credit to his receivers and coaches.

Blake also gives QBA and Coach Darin Slack a lot of credit for his success. But obviously he puts in an enormous amount of time and effort. He follows a strenuous workout regimen. His 6000 calorie a day diet is supervised by the staff at ProspectFit. At 6’0″ tall he weighs in over 175 pounds. This summer he will be throwing and lifting – working hard to be ready for the season.

It is his goal to succeed at the next level. He wants nothing more than to help his team in any way that he can. Blake is no longer one of the smaller and younger quarterbacks like when he started. He has grown not only in size but in knowledge and skill, well on his way and an example for others to follow.

As the summer heats up. Players will get tired, frustrated and cranky. Remember that your work ethic and reputation are every important. Your name is what is the most important thing in a coaches eyes. This poem say’s it best:

” You got it from your father,
it was the best he had to give,
and right gladly he bestowed it
It’s yours, the while you live.
You may lose the watch he gave you
                                                                                                  and another you may claim.
                                                                                                  but remember, when you’re tempted,
to be careful of his name.
It was fair the day you got it,
and a worthy name to bear,
when he took it from his father
there was no dishonor there.
Through the years he proudly wore it,
to his father he was true,
and that name was clean and spotless
when he passed it on to you.
Oh there’s much that he has given
that he values not at all.
He has watched you break your playthings
in the days when you were small.
You have lost the knife he gave you
and you’ve scattered many a game,
but you’ll never hurt your father
if you’re careful with his name.
It is yours to wear forever,
yours to wear the while you live.
                                                                                                    Yours, perhaps some distant morn,
                                                                                                    another boy to give,
and you’ll smile as did your father,
with a smile that all can share.
If a clean name and a good name,

you are giving him to wear.”
                                                                                                         -Edgar A Guest

Guy’s remember make your family proud. Do the right thing! Go to NFA Camps and learn from Coaches that will make your family proud. Our Coaches are proud of our Family name-NFA!

We want to introduce you to William Finch from Ontario, Canada. He is a true “Warrior”. He trains 5 days a week in the weight room for 90 minutes. He does speed work 4-5 times a week. He maintains over a 3.2 GPA. He is MVP of his High School Football Team in the fall. In summer he plays for an All-Star Team and is their MVP. Since Christmas he has been to 5 Combines in Canada and 4 or 5 in the US. He has been in almost every QB Competition there is. His All-Star team starts in May and ends early in August. He takes a week off and his High School team starts practice. During all this he still trains.

Will’s dream is to play in the US. So, while you’re at home eating ice cream and playing Video Games, William is working. He is chasing his dream. He attends QBA religiously. He follows the ProspectFit Coaches advice.

He has already drawn interest from schools like Baylor, Southern Miss, Western Kentucky, Eastern Michigan and Florida Atlantic. This list will get bigger as the summer comes to an end. He attends camps all over. He is dedicated to fulfill his dream. ProspectFit and the Get 2-0 Blog wants to congratulate William for his dedication and cheer him on as he chases his goal!

William knows how to GET -2-0!!!

Nick, who is in his fourth year playing in the CAYFA and will get one more season next year as an 8th grader is taking full advantage of the extra time on the field. With three games left, he leads the league with 302 yds passing and 8 TDs. Last year as a 6th grader Nick set the league single season record with a crazy 15 TDs through the air.

Nick’s father, Scott says that Nick is beginning to learn what responsibilities come from his success. “He has noticed that younger players know his name, team and position. He is beginning to learn the responsibility that comes with that and how others watch how he responds to and treats others.”

Nick has been involved with QBA for the last two seasons, been to multiple camps and competed in the Duel of the Dozens in Orlando, FL last July. “I feel QBA has helped him on the field by understanding the “feel” of properly throwing. When he makes a bad throw he immediately knows what went wrong. Whether it was Missing Zero or Wrist Firing Early. That gives him the confidence to not hesitate the next time he is called on to make a throw,” said Scott.

“We are just thankful to the Coach Slack and his staff, as well as his Coaches for their tireless efforts when it comes to the development of young football players and giving them an avenue to reach their full potential and achieve their dreams of playing football at every level.”

Along with many other goals, Nick has set his sights on becoming one of QBA’s Blackshirts in the next few years. However, he knows that this involves more than just what he does on the field. “QBA has helped him realize how difficult it will be every year to advance to the next level. By listening to the Coaches explain what it takes to be successful and set goals for good grades, character, and being a leader on and off the field.”

As you can see from the highlights below Nick is well on his way to making a name for himself just like the guys playing golf down the road.
